Near the beginning of each month, a picture is assigned and entrants have almost a
month to submit their works by email. At the end of the month, winners are selected and
become eligible to display our official winner's badge at their personal web sites.

Winners and Readers reviews will be posted on our monthly links

Every entry, however, has the opportunity to be critiqued by the members of  

The members of the Writers-Agents-Editors Yahoo group. and the Cowboy Logic Press forum

The members of the Cowboy Logic Readers group. The Reader's group votes are the ones that determine the winners. Who else but the reader should tell us how we did?

This will prove to be the most popular aspect of these contests as new writers crave direction and feedback most of all.  The end result will be tight works to begin novels with, submit to short story sites, poetry eZines, magazines or short story and poetry compilation books. These works remain the property of the respective writers and a none explicit license to post the work is granted Cowboy Logic. Works will be removed by request of the author. Look to the Member's pages for edited and polished versions of the contest entries as well as any of their other works published at Cowboy Logic.

Win or lose, entrants will certainly get helpful feedback on their work.

We do bite gently, but only because sugar-coated critiques offer little help to writers who are serious about improving.

Our motto: "Do you want your truth from friends or strangers?."

Due to popular demand, the Short Story contest word limit has been moved up to 2500 words.

Rules:

1. Works must be yours, original, poetry or prose and no longer than 2500 words.

2. You must not have given exclusive publishing rights to anyone else. You are welcome to sell the rights at anytime you ask me to take them down off the site unless you have express permission from the new owner that they may stay up at Cowboy Logic.

3. One entry per month.

4. Submit your entry in your email text, a Microsoft Word document or Web file.

5. All pieces must be in my mailbox by the end of the month to be included in the next month's contest.

6. First, Second, and Honorable Mention winners will be granted the Cowboy Logic Writers award to display on their web site.

7. The decision of the Readers group panel is final
