Do we have any volunteers to represent Cowboy Logic Press at the Global Book Shows / BookExpoAmerica? Perhaps this is a good opportunity to get some Satirica authors together for a signing or two.

Hmm, Book Expo is bound to be a nightmare this year since the tremendous job losses over at companies like Harper Collins (I live in NY, so I know), and the rise of Amazon.  KINDLE is the latest thing.  It'll be a bloodbath of a press junket over at the Javits Center (if that's where they hold it again).  Random House will probably be the only company to come out without scratches.  You'll be duking it out with a thousand other independent publisher's boothes, as well as the big boys, come post time (if you know what I mean).

You're better off with small book fairs, flea markets, small comic-cons, comic book shops, small cafes and indies, neighborhood libraries, POD ONLY when and IF in demand, and as you said in your newsletter - grass roots and eBooks.  I'd LOVE to own digital versions of Satirica and Guardian of the One, and you don't necessarily have to abandon print either.  You're just moving forward with the times.  You can have the best of BOTH worlds.

Thanks for checking in Larry. I didn't get any raise out of any New Yorkers in time anyway. I thought it might be a way to scope out the scene if I had someone there, but I wasn't going to put a great deal of weight on the venue for all the reasons you just discussed. My focus is on the Mom and Pop shops.

In this economic climate, the mom and pops are definitely the way to go.  I'll be testing the waters out myself renting out tables at outdoor fairs and markets this summer.  Still, it was good to see Satirica nominated.  I know one guy who won GOLD in the horror category (IPPY).  Name's Greg Lamberson.  He's having his gold medal mailed to him, I think.

Well they lost our books when I sent them for contest review and he asked me to resend, but they were announcing winners before they even got my second batch, so I'm not holding my breath. He keeps updating the list, but no mention and no returned meail to my request to see the full list to ensure we even were read.
